Freeport Wood Bank is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to addressing heating insecurity in our community. Our team includes neighbors, friends, and local leaders who come together to make sure everyone stays warm during Maine's cold months. Our mission is grounded in community spirit and mutual care.
We gather logs, cut and split them into firewood, stack and store the wood, and then deliver it directly to families who need it most. Beyond firewood, we also provide guidance on proper wood burning practices and work with local fire departments to ensure homes are equipped with smoke detectors and chimney inspections, keeping our neighbors safe all winter long.
The National Wood Bank Project is a federally funded program administered by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension that supports the creation and sustainability of woodbanks
Join our team of volunteers and make a difference in your community. Whether you can give a few hours a week or a few hours a month, your time and skills are appreciated.
